Jacmel Haiti - One in a series of portraits with saturated colours of survivors, created just days after the 2010 earthquake, that show the vibrant Haitian community as resilient, strong and looking to the future. The series became known as The Pink Door Photographs winning a LUCIE award and title "Photographer of the Year - Deeper Perspective." The photographs were created with support from MEDAIR, both in the community and in the Pinchinat IDP camp, where subjects were invited to have their photograph taken after they'd had a chance to clean up and be seen as they wished especially valued at a time when images from the region portrayed painful times for the Haitian community. The subjects were placed in front of a single background to contain the viewers attention and encouraged to bring something that they held as important that survived the tragedy with them. In this image the mother was thankful that her newborn baby also survived.
